RETURN CLIENT

  • If you've been with us before, welcome back! We can't wait to see you again! Arriving 5 minutes prior to your appointment gives you time to use the restroom, change (if necessary), and get relaxed before your service begins.

HOW SHOULD I PREP FOR A BEETTAN?

EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN

Before receiving a Beettan, it is important to exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells and reduce the risk of patchy tans. The best way to exfoliate for a sunless tan is with an abrasive scrub or mitt that will deeply cleanse your skin and leave it feeling smooth. You should focus on areas such as elbows, knees, ankles, and feet where your skin tends to be dryer and rougher than other areas of your body.  Do this the night or morning before, but NOT within TWO HOURS of your appointment time.

MOISTURIZE YOUR SKIN

After exfoliating, it’s essential that you moisturize your skin thoroughly before you apply any kind of self-tanner. This step helps ensure that your tan looks even and natural rather than streaky or blotchy. Moisturizing also prevents the self-tanner from clinging too much to dry patches on your body like elbows and knees. For best results, use a moisturizer specifically designed for use with self-tanners so that it will not interfere with how the product works on your skin. Beettan moisturizers are available for purchase at the Face Place!

SHAVE OR WAX AHEAD OF TIME

If you plan on shaving or waxing prior to your spray tan, make sure you do so at least 24 hours before your appointment time. This gives time for any irritation or redness caused by shaving or waxing to go away before applying self-tanner products which can irritate already sensitive skin further if applied too soon after hair removal treatments. Shaving or waxing right before an appointment will cause unevenness in coloration as the solution settles into those exfoliated areas differently.

WHAT TO WEAR

While receiving your spray tan, wear or don’t wear what you choose based on your comfort level (swimsuit, bra and underwear, or nothing at all). All Beettan Spray Tan Partners are trained, certified professionals who will make you feel comfortable. Our solution and equipment are state of the art so no touching required and you can get dressed immediately! Be sure to wear something comfortable. BEETTAN spray tans won’t stain your clothing because we have no artificial bronzers but tight jeans and sports bras are not recommended.

We will go over aftercare thoroughly post tan and will send you home with an aftercare card, just in case! Beettan products are available for purchase at The Face Place to enhance/prolong your spray tan!!

HOW SHOULD I PREP/WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW FOR A BODY WRAP?

1 WEEK PRIOR TO SERVICE: DO drink a minimum of 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water each day at least one week prior to receiving first body wrap.

2 DAYS PRIOR:

  • DO have a patch test performed to determine niacin sensitivity. If a reaction occurs, have a patch test administered using the sensitive formula.
  • Contour Cream contains niacin. Clients taking a niacin supplement, or products containing niacin (tanning creams, energy drinks, etc.) must decrease their niacin levels prior to the wrap service to avoid a possible niacin retention reaction.

DAY OR/DURING WRAP:

  • DO NOT drink anything for 2 hours before your wrap to ensure you will not need to use the restroom during the treatment.
  • DO NOT use any moisturizing lotions or creams the day of your wrap.
  • DO NOT shave the day of your wrap.
  • DO NOT shower for 6-8 hours after receiving your body wrap.
  • DO NOT apply additional heat sources prior to, during or immediately after the wrap- this includes raising the body temperature by exercising.

AFTER SERVICE - IN BETWEEN WRAP SERVICE SERIES:

  • DO ensure that you perform enzymatic exfoliation at home 3 times per week using M'lis Buff Body Exfoliator. (Not available in spa at this time, but we can certainly order for you!)
  • DO use the M'lis Maintain Anti-Cellulite Lotion each day after a bath or shower to enhance results. (Not available in spa at this time, but we can certainly order for you!)
  • DO ensure that you practice a healthy lifestyle of exercise and proper diet to maintain the inches lost. Avoid processed foods, caffeine/coffee, carbonated drinks, refined sugar, and white flour.
  • DO drink at least half your daily allotment of water before drinking anything else.

DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE WRAPPED IF YOU HAVE:

  • Heart condition, specifically conditions requiring Coumadin or other blood thinners.
  • Epilepsy
  • Cancer that is not in remission for at least 2 years.
  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding
WAXING

HOW LONG DOES THE HAIR NEED TO BE IN ORDER TO WAX?

  • In the area where you intend to wax, your hair needs to be at least ¼ inch. That’s about the length of a grain of rice. Generally, it takes about 2 weeks of not shaving for hair to grow to this length. Hair that is shorter is not long enough to get “stuck” in the wax and be pulled out. If there’s any question, we can always try a test strip as some people can be waxed at less than ¼ inch.

WHAT CAUSES INGROWN HAIRS?

  • There are many culprits! Improper technique, tight clothing, sweat/oils/bacteria getting into the follicle, synthetic materials (such as lace, spandex, nylon), friction, dead skin, dry skin, not following proper aftercare protocol. Unfortunately, some people are just prone to these also.

DOES WAXING HURT?

  • It really depends on the area, but yes, waxing in general can hurt. The pain is immediate and somewhat intense but subsides pretty quickly. You should not leave the appointment walking weird, being sore or needing to ice down the area or anything crazy like that. Almost every single new client we have ever had has said that it didn’t hurt nearly as much as they expected (including the Brazilian area). Everyone’s pain tolerance is different so there’s no solid way to describe or rate the level of pain.

WAXING CONTRAINDICATIONS

Below we’ve listed out common products that are not safe to use while receiving waxing treatments

  • Retinol, Retin-A, Retinoic Acid, Hydroquinone – You must not have used Retinol, Retin-A, Retinoic Acid, or Hydroquinone for ONE WEEK before waxing, and that is regardless of where you put it and where you want to get waxed. It affects your whole body, even if you just put it on your face! A lot of over the counter creams contain a percentage of retinol so double-check all the ingredients before you come in!

  • Accutane, Roaccutane, Isotretinoin – ONE YEAR! That’s right, you cannot get waxed within an entire year of being on Accutane, Roaccutane, or isotretinoin. It takes one year for this medicine to leave your body and for you to safely be waxed again.

  • Steroids/Antibiotics – You must be off this medication for 3 months prior to waxing. Certain steroids and antibiotics cause the skin to become hypersensitive and can cause painful reactions to waxing like bruising.

  • Chemical peels, Facials, Microdermabrasions – These services can be hard to gauge how long you should wait before being waxed due to the different types of facial services there are out there. To be on the safe side, we recommend two weeks.

We want only the best for our clients and that means we want to give you the knowledge to protect yourself. We are trained professionals and will ask you if you have made any changes in your skincare, but if you already know ahead of time please let us know before we start your service. We thank you and so will your skin.

WHY AREN'T CHEMICAL PEELS AVAILABLE ALL YEAR?

The sun’s rays are stronger during the summer, we tend to spend more time outdoors and probably fail to reapply our SPF. Having the skin exposed to sun after a chemical peel not only increases the risk of further damage and skin cancer, but it can also undo the benefit of the treatment.

In the fall and winter months the UV rays are weaker, and this allows our skin the time it needs to adequately recover after a corrective treatment like a chemical peel. Doing these treatments in the cooler months also means that there is less chance of inflammation or complications for your newly uncovered skin.
